Properly done they should be identical. The danger is in Scratch installation NOT being perfect (humans = likelihood of human error).

Scratch install is to be reserved for "I can not use Vicibox because ....". If you use it any other time, Scratch is only useful as a learning tool. Like rebuilding the engine on a car. Don't do it unless there's a compelling reason.
