Inbound DID ---> Ext --> Another DID

Postby Nefariousparity » Wed May 28, 2014 4:15 pm

Hi, so I have setup a DID to go to an extension.. The extension is on another system, sometimes it rings once and answers. Sometimes it rings 20 times. So i guess you could say sometimes customer has to wait 3 seconds, sometimes customer has to wait 40 seconds before hearing the IVR on the Exten.

So the setup is

DID 5555555555
Exten
916666666666

55555555 is Vicidial System
66666666 is a Voip solution provided by ISP opening msg is IVR.

**Note**
And part two of this, would be to send customers DID as caller ID when the dialer calls that number

Kind Regards!

Thank you.

Yes you can do this. You don't even need to use a phone extension. You can just set the destination to EXTERN in the DID and then put the dial number in the extension. I'm unsure if the CallerID will carry across, I'm assuming it will, but you can do some custom dialplan stuff if doesn't to fix this.

Hi GeoffDdm. That is what I am doing. However, whether or not it works, seems very intermittent. I can confirm the dialer is dialing the number. They claim they had no issues doing this with Five9. I wonder if they just never noticed.

**Update**

Bypassed dialer on this DID and had carrier forward directly to their number. Their services are provided by COX (Local ISP). My carrier says they have a very high PDD? I'm thinking asterisk was having issues with that? Or their system with the added delay of asterisk was having issues with that. Because now since at the carrier level it goes directly to them there are no issues.

Just to chime in, I've done it by choosing "extension" then route the call via your outside dial prefix instead eg; 915555555555. Also, Dialer traffic carriers do generally have a lot of PDD, as well as a lower ASR. If it is an important transfer line that always needs to work, setup a conversational trunk with a High ASR and transfer the calls out that route only. ie; 815555555555.
