There is a PDF on the Vicibox.com website covering "installation".

There is a FREE Vicidial Manager's Manual on EFLO.net (there is also a paid version, highly recommended!). The free version will walk you through each necessary step to get your dialer working. start at page one and do not skip anything (even if you are sure you do not need a section, work through it anyway DO NOT skip until everything works as you want).

Don't put g729 in the system until everything works as you want it. This way you can easily Start Over if you think you messed something up. NEVER Fear the re-install. It's free software, so installing it two or even five times just means you'll be that much more familiar with it. If your HD dies, you'll WANT to be very familiar with the installation process :)

Whereever you GET g729 will have a list of versions available and which is for which processor family. If all else fails, load them one at a time until one works. We charge $99 to install g729 for you (regardless of where you get it from). The installation is different for licensed vs unlicensed version, but we charge the same regardless of your source (which depends on your country ... if you are in a jurisdiction where the Licensee has no authority and are installing the unlicensed version, for instance). The unlicensed version installation is much easier, but none of them are difficult. Note that this is NOT related to Vicidial in any way, it is purely an Asterisk function and outside the scope of this Forum (and there are plenty of places out there offering advice on how to install it and where to purchase or download it ... just be careful not to get any viruses during your download!).

Unless you have made changes, they will be in /var/spool/asterisk/monitorDONE inside a subfolder based on your configuration. Check your crontab -e settings for the various recording management scripts. Those scripts include options if you execute them with --help.

Nope. In fact, we rarely install it and then only on servers not in our physical location. g729 is only necessary when you have limited bandwidth and want to maximize the number of calls you can make. g729 requires a clean network connection (low jitter, etc). And it can heavily load the CPU for compression of the calls.
