MariaDB missing my-big.cnf

Postby DruRoland » Fri Sep 13, 2013 5:34 pm

Per /etc/my.cnf: "# Use the dedicate my-big.cnf for 16+GB RAM and 8+ Cores"
locate my-big.cnf returns nothing.

Did you mean the normal /usr/share/mysql/my-huge.cnf?

Also, using the vici tuned my.cnf, mysqltuner complains that the buffers exceed 16Gb:
Code: Select all

 >>  Bug reports, feature requests, and downloads at http://mysqltuner.com/
 >>  Run with '--help' for additional options and output filtering

General recommendations:
    Run OPTIMIZE TABLE to defragment tables for better performance
    MySQL started within last 24 hours - recommendations may be inaccurate
    Reduce your overall MySQL memory footprint for system stability
Variables to adjust:
  *** MySQL's maximum memory usage is dangerously high ***
  *** Add RAM before increasing MySQL buffer variables ***
    query_cache_size (>= 8M)

I'm running this on an 8-core 16Gb RAM server.

ViciBox should automatically install the big my.cnf for a 16-megs 8-core system. It is located at /usr/src/astguiclient/conf/my-big.cnf

The issue is with the sheer number of connections required for ViciDial to operate. You can lower the max_connections if you are worried about the potential issue of each connection using the max allowed memory and maxing out the buffers in MySQL. In our experience this has never happened though.
