USA , Now UK

I am using my dialer for USA dialing.

But now I want to start with UK dialing also...

What changes are required in the dialer ?

Can anyone please guide me step by step...

From RAW extension.conf file I see :

Does it mean UK is ALREADY configured ?

Also I dont see anything for USA ... Kindly advice...

The dialplan was written from a USA perspective, the 91NXXNXXXXXX exten is where those calls go, you would just need to add any country code dialing that you need to be able to dial the USA to those.

So, When Uploading Leads, I just need to add 44 before the phone number and NO CHANGE in Extension.conf required ?

correct. we've done it. as you add a new country you "dupe" another country (like australia) and change the country code and length of the phone number (for places like colombia with shorter numbers). then test it to be sure it works. otherwise, there are no changes required. and make sure the correct country code is loaded with each lead.

this is handy to be sure that you do not accidentally begin dialing a country you have not planned (because there's no entry for it in the dial plan).

i just read what was in extensions.conf, and help screens in Vicidial. Matt put it in there.

I was debating altering the system to allow for ANY nation dialing out of the box and also when linking the system to FreePBX, and then realized how much money a manager (overzealous, the lot of 'em) could spend calling Cell Phones in the wrong country.

I decided to hold off on that. In FreePBX on my systems you can dial anywhere you like, but in Vicidial, you can ONLY dial country and local codes entered into the system specifically. So if dialing into a country where there are some excessive prices, I make sure to create a list of acceptable codes and put those in, and exclude the expensive stuff. So those calls all come back "chan_unavailable".

We switched to VOIP and Vicidial to SAVE money. Our telephone system operating budget is about 10% of what it used to be and is significantly more flexible.
