Hi,
We are in the process of doing step 13 in section 3.2 of scratch_install and would like to know where to the add the following lines (the command prompt disapeared after we did vi /usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf - it resulted in 1013 lines):
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml"
"LoadModule php4_module libexec/libphp4.so"
modify the index.html line and add index.php to the list
Thanks again!

sounds like you have never used the VI editor in Linux. It takes a little getting used to if this is your first time. I would recommend looking at this page for information:
http://www.eng.hawaii.edu/Tutor/vi.html
http://thomer.com/vi/vi.html
you should place those lines close to the LoadModule php4 line is already in the file.
Then you need to "Esc" then :wq to save and leave vi

Appraciate your feedback.

Thanks will do. By the way, where do we:
modify the index.html line and add index.php to the list
I did not see index.html line in the output after we ran:
vi /usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf

If you have pine installed then pico should also be available and is a lot easier for beginners to work with instead of vi.

And other beginners have also just downloaded the file locally with Filezilla and edited it on their local workstation and then copied it back when done with modifications.
