Always the same question: hardware suggestion

Postby DarknessBBB » Tue Jun 24, 2008 4:06 pm

Hello everybody!
We are planning to build up a brand new callcenter with 18 seats, only outbound and full time recording.

I'm thinking about this hardware:

1 PBX (pure asterisk, maybe pbxinaflash)
1 Vicidial (waiting for 2.0.5  )
1 DB/Web Server

On the PBX I'll install two PCI card with 8 BRI (note the B, not P) each one, interconnected via IAX with Vicidial.
On Vicidial I will create a 2GB Ram disk, with a cron task that transfers everything on a NAS (maybe every hour?)

Hardware of both Vicidial and DB/Web servers:

- INTEL QC Q9300 1333MHZ
- M.BOARD ASUS P5K-E P35
- 4 GB DDR2 800 CORSAIR XMS
- CTRL 3WARE 9650SE-4LPML 4CH. SATAII, PCI-E X4, RAID 10
- 4 x HDD WD SATA RAPTOR 74GB 10,000RPM
- X100P (bought on x100p.com, only on vicidial)

They (who are paying) exclude SCSI or SAS disk :(

Except this last note, will the hardware work flawlessly?

THank you very much!!

The hardware should work fine. Make sure you are recording to a RAM drive or tmpfs.

As for 2.0.5, it will not be out until the end of August at the earliest, but the 2.0.5 codebase is running in production at several companies right now, so there really isn't a reason not to try it out.
